LAHORE: The Lahore Arts Council is organizing its 14th annual exhibition for the Young Artists at Alhamra, The Mall on 11th April 2018.
This exhibition is a yearly and most promising attribute of the Alhamra Art Gallery in which young artist’s across the country from several different art institutes are submitted their artworks for this exhibition. Each of them can submit two arts work which first selected by Director Art and Culture Alhamra Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi. Today’s show is the 14th in the line as the Alhamra had started this meaningful exhibition in 2005.
It is right to say, that this exhibition is not just another exhibition, but an art contest as well. In which ten best artworks receiving the price of 10,000 each and “Young Artist Award” which is considered as one of the most prominent awards gave to young artists by a government organization for exhibiting their best artworks. “The Young Artists Exhibition” is a great step taken by Alhamra to create room for young souls and promote them to show their skills to the masses and the master’s as well under one roof.
This year Alhamra has received approximately 850 artworks from all over the country from which 500 best artworks were selected for display, created by 400 artists including, painting, miniature painting, drawings, printmaking, sculpture, installation, video, ceramic and graphic arts.
Jury members Amina Pataudi, renowned Artist Quddus Mirza, Mian Ijaz-ul-Hassan chairman, AAP, and Rahat Naveed Ex. Principal CAD have selected 10 best works of Aneeka Saeed, Areeba Majid Butt, Cyrus Javed, Irum basher, Javed Iqbal, Mariam Laique, Memuna Shahid, Sana Durrani, Sidra Liaqat, and Tayyaba Sabir who were awarded with shield and certificates along with the cash price of 10,000 rupees. Jury has also selected six artists Aneela Khursheed, Izza Ashfaq, Mahnoor Gull, M. Asif Kasi, Shabana Nazir and Yasin Khan for the Consolation Awards.
Mr. Omer Rasul- Additional Chief Secretary Punjab has inaugurated the exhibition and presented the awards to the winners. On the occasion Executive Director, Lahore Arts Council Capt (R) Atta Muhammad Khan, said, “Young Artists” Exhibition provides a platform for the young and artistic youth for exhibiting their works to a larger audience at the national level. The Alhamra is thankful to all the artists for their participation with a great amount of enthusiasm. I would like to congratulate all the winners who have received the Ten Best Artworks award and best wishes for all participants. We hope to continue this exhibition for upcoming years with more zeal and improvement he further said.
At the exhibition, the audience was thrilled to see the diversity of artworks that are on display and the amount of effort visual artists are doing in the field of visual arts. Every displayed artwork is exclusively phenomenal from one another said by a visitor. This exhibition is creating a dialogue for the youth’s conceptual understanding of the world and highlighting their creative energies and minds to speak about their perspectives individually and collectively audience said. The exhibition will remain open till 29th April 2018 for everyone.
