Three Kashmiri Students Booked For Not Standing Up During National Anthem In India

Three engineering students, originally hailing from Kashmir, have been booked for not standing up during the national anthem which was being played in a cinema hall in Hyderabad, India, on Saturday.

The incident took place when the students, studying at a private college, went to a cinema hall under Rajendra Nagar Police Station. The students were accused of watching a hindi movie and not standing up when the National Anthem was being played before the film’s screening, reports Firstpost.

The deputy commissioner of the area said, “The management of the theater lodged a complaint with police, stating that the three persons did not stand up when the National Anthem was played when all others in the cinema hall were standing.”

The DCP said following the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act of 1971 against the trio and they were taken into custody.

The management of the theater has been informed about this and further investigations are underway.
