India is now all set to bring forth another weapon that now would be used against the Kashmiri’s in the Seized-Kashmir to control the situations that arise due to the protests.
The final decision regarding using the Chili-based weapon in Seized-Kashmir is pending, which will be taken by the Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh, however, he did indicate one thing, that the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel would incorporate PAVA shells, which will contain a chili-based munition, highly effective to temporarily paralyze the protesters.
PAVA, or Pelargonic Acid Vanillylamide, also called Nonivamide, is an organic compound found in natural chili pepper. Once fired, PAVA shells burst out to temporarily stun, immobilize and paralyze the target. According to the Times of India, the panel has held a demonstration, regarding the PAVA shells, earlier this week.
Before the PAVA based weapons, Indian military forces in the Seized-Kashmir had been using Pellet guns, which had injured hundreds of protesters and also, it had caused many of the Kashmiris, to lose their sight. The pellet guns had met with severe criticism from all over the world.
The panel that had sat together to take decision on the matter, favored PAVA shells that they would be considered as an alternative to pellet guns and prescribed that the Tear Smoke Unit (TSU) of the BSF in Gwalior ought to be entrusted with mass generation of the shells quickly, with the principal parcel of 50,000 rounds.
Regarding the PAVA based weapons, Indian military had been using these weapons before as they are non-lethal, biological weapons, useful to disperse the crowd that gathers as a result of the protest.
