6-year-old shot dead during blind fire in Korangi, Karachi

KARACHI: A minor girl was shot dead on Monday night during a robbery here in Korangi’s Zaman Town.

Eshal, 6, was shot dead by dacoits when they faced resistance during a robbery attempt from a neighbor who was returning home after withdrawing cash.

The suspects, however, managed to escape with cash worth Rs50,000.

Eshal stood in her home’s verandah, holding the metal grill and playfully watching the street in her view, when her neighbor, Mohib, who was chased by four suspects on motorcycles, was trapped.

Mohib had just returned from the bank, having withdrawn Rs50,000. Little did he know that four robbers had chased him down to his neighborhood.

Upon resistance from Mohib, the dacoits blindly fired in every direction and during the subsequent chaos, Eshal was unknowingly struck by the bullets which explains why died on the very spot.

Eshal, the six-year-old, was the eldest of three siblings.

Korangi is amid the hub that fecunds street crimes, with area residents plaintive that authorities have not taken enough measures to eliminate criminal activities.
