Bollywood industry shares family ties not just in terms of lending support to one another but most of the stars are actually related to each other by bloodline.
While Kangana Ranaut has spoken of nepotism in the industry multiple times, a lot of family connections have gone unnoticed.
Here is a list of seven celebrity duos that are related to each other.
- Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra
Two of Bollywood’s biggest families are very close, however, there is more to that bond. Karan’s mother, Hiroo Johar, is Yash Chopra’s sister meaning that the two film producers are, in fact, cousins. Was film production a family business?
- Tabu and Shabana Azmi
Tabu’s father, Jamal Hashmi, is Shabana’s brother, hence making the Haider actor Shabana’s niece. We can clearly see that acting runs in their blood.
- Farhan Akhtar and Farah Khan
The Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara actor’s mother, Honey Irani has two sisters — Daisy Irani and Maneka Irani. Ace choreographer Farah is Maneka’s daughter implying that the two are cousins as well.
- Shraddha Kapoor and Lata Mangeshkar
The 31-year-old actor’s grandfather is cousin to sisters, Lata and Asha Bhosle. We now know where Shraddha’s singing talent comes from.
- Sonam Kapoor and Ranveer Singh
Well, this one is a shocker. Sonam’s maternal grandmother and Ranveer’s paternal grandmother are sisters, which means that the two are cousins. This also implies that fans might never be able to see both of them paired together for a film.
- Alia Bhatt and Emraan Hashmi
This comes as a surprise as Emraan has done a number of films with Alia’s father, Mahesh Bhatt. The Jannat actor’s mother is Mahesh’s cousin, making Alia and Emraan cousins as well.
- Ali Zafar and Aamir Khan
Saving the best for the last. Prepare yourself as you digest this one. Ali’s wife, Ayesha Fazli is Aamir’s distant cousin. The Dangal actor was taken aback when the Channo singer pointed out that they were brother-in-law to each other. This also means that Ali is related to Bollywood’s Imran Khan.
FUN FACT: Ali and Imran have played brothers in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.
