Panama Case; Verdict, Reactions And Confusions

Panama Case verdict mustered all the confusion among the people of Pakistan. It neither gave the Premier a clean chit nor is he disqualified. Supreme Court has ordered a joint investigation team to probe evidences in this case and Nawaz Sharif along with his sons is bound to be presented in front of the JIT.

The hearings were proceeded by the five-judge larger bench and the verdict is a split of 3-2 judges. Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and Justice Gulzar Ahmed ruled against the Prime Minister saying he should be disqualified. The other three judges favored forming a JIT.

JIT will include officials from NAB, FIA, State Bank of Pakistan, ISI and Military Intelligence which will be led by a director general level officer of FIA. The names of the members of JIT must be announced within a week. JIT must release a probe report in 60 days.

The verdict of Panama Case created an uproar in the politics of country and political leaders are in full swing. Each party wants to gain maximum advantage from this verdict. Co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party Asif Zardari asked resignation from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He also questioned the verdict of SC by stating that the nation has been once again fooled. We waited for nine long months and get this.

Zardari laud the two judges who disqualified Nawaz. He also said that Imran Khan has never been jailed and he don’t know how the judges work in this country.

Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf’s chairman Imran Khan on the other hand praised the judiciary for their brave decision. He said Pakistan’s history has never seen such tremendous verdict. Imran also demanded Nawaz to resign. Imran Khan asked N league what are they actually celebrating since their chairman has been announced disqualified by two of five judges. They should be ashamed rather than celebrating.
