LAHORE: The body of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, Pakistan’s former first lady, was moved to Jati Umra on Friday morning, almost half an hour after a flight carrying it from London landed at Allama Iqbal International Airport during wee hours.
As per details, 13 members of Sharif family, including Shehbaz Sharif, Asma Nawaz, sons of Husssain Nawaz and other relatives have arrived Pakistan along with the body via PIA flight PK 758, which landed at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport from Heathrow’s airport at around 06: 50am today (Friday).
The body was transferred to an ambulance directly from the airplane and taken to Sharif Medical City.
Strict measures for security adherence was already ensured at both Allama Iqbal International Airport and Jati Umra following the funeral prayers of Pakistan’s former first lady.
A special security plan has been chalked out ahead of Begum Kulsoom’s funeral. Airport Security Force (ASF), police, and other law enforcers have been deployed in the provincial capital to avert any untoward incident.
Religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel will lead the funeral prayers of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, which is scheduled to be held at 5:00pm on Friday (today ) at Sharif Medical City, Jati Umra.
Nawaz, his daughter Maryam and son-in-law Captain (retd) Mohammad Safdar who have been released on parole were also taken to Sharif Medical City to pay their respects.
Shehbaz Sharif, the deceased’s brother-in-law and president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), along with Begum Kulsoom’s daughter Asma, grandson Zayd Hussain Sharif (Hussain Nawaz’s son), and 11 other family members accompanied the body.
Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, Begum Kulsoom’s sons, did not return to the country for their mother’s funeral.
Begum Kulsoom’s funeral prayers will be held at Sharif Medical City in Lahore’s Jati Umra neighbourhood at 5pm.
The former first family will be laid to rest in Jati Umra.

The former premier, who was accompanied by Sharif family members to pay respects to Begum Kulsoom at Sharif Medical City after her body was brought to Lahore, is currently meeting guests in Jati Umra.
Nawaz has been released from Adiala Jail on parole in order to attend the funeral of his wife.
On Thursday, Begum Kulsoom’s funeral prayers were also offered at London’s Islamic Cultural Centre.
Hundreds of mourners attended the funeral of the former first lady Kulsoom Nawaz including former Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, Hasan and Hussain Nawaz, former finance minister Ishaq Dar, former Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar, former federal minister Berjees Tahir, former AJK prime minister Chaudhary Abdul Majeed, PTI London President Barrister Waheed Miah and representatives of religious and political parties attended the funeral.
Legal formalities were completed in London and the Harley Street Clinic, where Begum Kulsoom had passed away, issued a death certificate to the family. The bereaved relatives also received the “out-of-England” letter from the coroner’s court, which the way for the departure of her body.
Kulsoom, 68, wife of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, breathed her last on Tuesday at London’s Harley Street Clinic after a prolonged illness, where She remained under treatment since June 2017, and was placed on life support ahead of her death.
