Cellular Services to be suspended in Karachi on Friday due to Chehlum

KARACHI: The Sindh government on Thursday issued a notification suspending mobile phone services on account of Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA) in Karachi.

The ban will be effective from 10am till 10pm on Friday to maintain law and order, the notification said.

As part of strict security measures for the Chehlum of martyrs of Karbala, pillion riding has been banned in Karachi for Nov 9 and 10.

The ban has been imposed on pillion riding in Karachi under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), the notification issued by the Sindh home department read.

On the other hand, Balochistan home department also banned pillion riding in Quetta on account of Chehlum Imam Hussain (RA).
