DG ISPR Asked About Maryam Nawaz Involvement In Leaks

Pakistan army chief spokesman Maj-Gen Asif Ghafoor said that whatever happened after his tweet on the Dawn Leaks’ notification was regrettable.

“Our press release wasn’t against any specific individual or institution. The tweet was posted against incomplete recommendations. It unfortunately pitted the army and civilian government against each other which should have been avoided,” said Maj-Gej Asif Ghafoor in a media briefing on Wednesday.

“Recommendations as contained in Para 18 of the Inquiry Committee Report, duly approved by the Prime Minister, have been implemented, which has settled the Dawn leaks issue,” he said

“We also appreciate the efforts put in by the government to remove misunderstandings and address this issue amicably,” he said.

He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was the final authority and his orders must be implemented.

To a question, he said that tweet is not a press release but it the fastest mode of communication.

Talking about the border tension in Chaman, he said that Afghanistan was a brotherly country and there shouldn’t have been any confrontation between the border forces.
