The oath-taking ceremonies of caretaker Chief Ministers of Punjab and Balochistan are likely to be held today (Friday).
Nominated Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Professor Hassan Askari Rizvi will take oath at 11am at Governor House in Lahore, while Alauddin Marri will be sworn in at 5pm at Governor House in Quetta.
However, both Hasan Askari Rizvi and Alauddin Marri were appointed as caretakes chief ministers of Punjab and Balochistan respectively by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

After a meeting Thursday morning, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) named Dr Hasan Askari as caretaker chief minister of Punjab
The ECP nominated the analyst and professor as caretaker Punjab chief minister after a parliamentary committee failed to reach a consensus over the proposed candidates.
A Pakistani political scientist and military analyst, Dr Hasan Askari, is noted for his work in comparative politics, nuclear weapons and the country’s domestic policy.
Addressing media after his appointment, Dr Askari said, “No party should worry over the transparency of the upcoming election.”
“We will ensure that free and fair elections are held,” he asserted.
What’s with Alauddin Marri?
In the meanwhile, the ECP appointed Alauddin Marri as the caretaker chief minister of Balochistan Thursday evening.
The decision to finalize a caretaker chief minister for Balochistan was handed over to the ECP after parliamentary committee formed for the purpose failed to reach consensus.
Marri, however, belongs to Mastung district of Balochistan, and was recommended by the former provincial government that had also proposed the name of Sardar Shaukat Popalzai for the post.
