Karachi’s famous Mukka Chowk Now Renamed after Liaquat Ali Khan

Just a week later to what had happened after Altaf’s hatred-filled telephonic address at the Karachi Press Club, the MQM stronghold, Mukka Chowk seems to have slipped out their hands.

As a retaliation from the Rangers, Altaf Hussain had come across a backlash where all of his pictures were taken off of the famous Mukka Chowk, which has now been renamed as Shaheed-e-Millat, Liaquat Ali Khan Chowk, claimed by the authorities.

According to the notification issued by the District Municipal Corporation, “The roundabout/junction, connecting Blocks 7, 8 and 9, Azizabad, Federal B Area, Karachi, known as Mukka Chowk, is named as Shaheed-i-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan Chowk, with immediate effect.”

The rangers and the law enforcement agencies were forced to take such action against the MQM chief and his party as a result of his latest speech, last Monday. Calling Pakistan a cancer for the entire world, MQM chief has pulled strings that no other leader has ever dared to do. Also, he had ordered his party workers to ‘enforce’ justice, by attacking the ARY news and SAMAA news offices, which led to their clash with police, resulting as, death of one person, with a dozen more wounded.

Since then, the law enforcement agencies have apprehended several MQM workers, along with a few important leaders; also, numerous MQM offices were demolished into a pile of rubble, by the Rangers. The demolition had also been the fate of a number of other MQM offices that were built on encroached land.

Also, a Pakistani flag was placed on top of each demolished site, as a message by the Rangers, depicting whoever raises a finger on Pakistan’s dignity, the law enforcement agencies will make sure that such conspirators get what they deserve.
