Maryam Nawaz terms Khan a ‘pawn’ and condemns Zardari’s and Musharraf’s era

SWAT: On Sunday, Former PM’s daughter Maryam Nawaz said Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and former president Asif Ali Zardari were brothers who had joined hands under a banner that did not represent the people of Pakistan.

In a hate speech at Kabal Ground in Swat, she also vented out her fury at the judiciary.

“The institutions only pressurise us but they are not working out to bring (former president) Pervez Musharraf back,” Maryam said.

The Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa voted for the PTI and the PTI chief placed their mandate at “robber” Zardari’s feet in the Senate polls.

She said if Imran had to do the same next time as well then, he should tell the people to directly vote for arrow, which is a representative symbol of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party.

“When you voted for the PTI in the last election, you would have hoped Imran will work for you, but he spent his time in blocking roads in Punjab and the capital city,” she added.

Maryam labelled Imran a dupe who was played by someone else like a pawn in an effort to topple the government and declare emergency.

She further said during Zardari’s and Musharraf’s era Swat was only known for terrorism when the nation would echo with the sounds of bullets and smell of explosives all over, whereas, the incumbent government had drastically curtailed terrorism.

The ex-PM’s daughter also raised question on the Senate elections terming the results as a mockery of the constitution and democracy.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on this occasion said Imran Khan wasted five years in spinning stories and sit-ins, which explains why he did nothing for the people.
