Following the case filing of Ali Zafar’s defamation suit against Meesha Shafi for her defamatory allegations on Twitter on 19 April 2018, Ali Zafar has been granted a permanent stay against Meesha Shafi until the final decision of the case. The court, however, has also granted a status quo.

On 25-06-2014 Ali Zafar vs Meesha Shafi case was taken up by Additional District Judge Mr. Ahmed Shahzad. Advocate Supreme Court Ali Sibtain Fazli, Barrister Ambreen Qureshi, and Advocate Rana Intezar argued the case in which the Judge granted a stay order in favor of the Plaintiff, Mr. Ali Zafar.

This order restrains Ms. Meera Shafi [known as Meesha Shafi] from making any further defamatory statements across all available mediums until the final decision on the case.

In the case lodged by Ali Zafar’s legal counsel, it is stated that Ms. Meera Shafi’s case was already dismissed some weeks ago at the Ombudsman’s office.

The ombudsman’s office is the official organization to protect women from harassment. The case was suspended for not withstanding Ms. Meera Shafi’s allegation of harassment at the workplace.

The next date scheduled for the court hearing is in July.
