RAWALPINDI: On Thursday Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Qamar Bajwa  paid homage to the heroes of 1965 war with India and the country’s martyrs in its ongoing war on terror, media reported.

While addressing a ceremony held at General Headquarters on Defence and Martyrs Day, the COAS said that the Pakistan’s valiant soldiers taught India a befitting lesson in 1965 and smashed all their dreams.

COAS Bajwa was of the view that country’s foes sensed that Pakistan can’t be beaten at conventional warfare so they imposed terrorism on our motherland but the armed forces beat the menace with their efforts and sacrifices.

“Our houses, schools, places of worship and and leaders were attacked in order to weaken us. More than 70,000 Pakistanis were martyred or injured in this war on terror but the nation should be saluted for its courage that it once again emerged successful,” said Bajwa.

The army chief also saluted the people of India-Occupied Kashmir who have stood firm before the Indian aggression to demand their right to self-determination.

Moreover. the ceremony was attended by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, three services chiefs, Ministers, Senators, MNAs, ambassadors, diplomats, military and civilian officials and people from various walks of life.

Imran Khan was the chief guest on the occasion.
