KARACHI: The Sindh government has barred pillion-riding across the province for three days owing to its measures to provide infallible security to Muharram processions and gatherings in the city.
A notification issued by the provincial home department read that a ban has been imposed on pillion riding for three days, until 10th Mohramm, which means would end at midnight of 21st September.
Cellular phone services will also remain suspended in certain areas of the province.
Processions are being taken out from various areas of the city, while Majalis are also being held with due solemnity.
The main procession of the 8th Muharram-ul-Haram will be proceed from Nishtar Park and will settle at Imambargah Hussainia Irania later in the evening.
The Government of Sindh has made strict security arrangement for the safety of participants of the procession and over seven thousand police personnel, Rangers and other law enforcement agencies are deployed around the route of the procession.
