LAHORE: Unknown assailants murdered two people Thursday night here in the city’s Nawan Kot neighbourhood, police said, in a knife crime that has left the locality shaken with fear.
Police officials have taken the bodies of both Arsalan, 24, and a 12-year-old domestic help Tariq, into custody after gathering initial information. An investigation into the murder was underway.
According to the bereaved family, the 24-year-old, who studied in a private university, had informed them before his untimely death that two friends had come to meet him and that no one should come into the drawing room.
Sometime later, Tariq, the 12-year-old minor domestic help, went into the drawing room to give water but did not return. When two hours had passed, Arsalan’s sister went in to check up on her brother and found both of them dead, with their throats slit open.
A heavy contingent of security personnel reached as soon as police were alerted and, with the help of the forensic team, gathered evidence from the site of the gruesome murder.
On the other hand, Superintendent of Police (SP) for Iqbal Town Division, Ali Raza, said it would premature to make a statement at the moment. However, he added that he hoped to trace the suspects as soon as possible.
The bereaved family conveyed to police their suspicion that the suspects were classmates of the deceased boy. As to why they murdered Arsalan or the minor domestic help, they said they had no idea.
