ISLAMABAD: The Nawaz trio, namely; Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retired) Safdar have been set free on parole to attend Begum Kulsoom Nawaz’s funeral and burial, according to media reports.

A notification issued by the Punjab Home Department stated that the trio was released for 12 hours to attend the funeral of Begum Kulsoom. “The duration of permission granted shall not exceed 12 hours – which shall not include the time consumed from journey to and from the prison,” read the notification.
The PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, along with his daughter and son-in-law after being convicted in a corruption reference by an accountability court were released from Adiala Jail in wee hours on Wednesday. They have reportedly landed at Lahore now.
Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, who breathed her last in a London hospital, will have her coffin brought back to Lahore for funeral and burial.
In his condolence message, Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed the authorities to provide all facilities to the family and heirs of Kulsoom Nawaz as per law. He also directed Pakistani High Commission in London to assist in provision of all necessary facilities to the heirs of the deceased.
