ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC).
The NSC reviewed Pakistan’s security situation and concluded that progress and prosperity lie in peace, stability and the rule of law.
The prime minister also informed those attending of his recent visit to China, including his meetings with President Xi Jinping and Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
Security matters pertaining to the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) were also discussed during the NSC meeting.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including the foreign, defence and finance ministers. Heads of the armed forces, DG ISI and DG MO were also present.
The prime minister, along with his high-level delegation of ministers and advisers, returned to Pakistan on Monday from his first official trip to China since assuming charge as the country’s premier.
Prior to the NSC meeting, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at the PM office. They discussed various issues including the recent security developments and the prime minister’s recent trip to China.
