ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Imran Khan arrived in Madina on his first foreign official visit to Saudi Arabia as Pakistan’s Prime Minister.
Khan was also accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry and Adviser for Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood.
Upon arrival, the Pakistan premier was greeted by Governor of Madina Faisal bin Salman, Pakistan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia Khan Hasham bin Siddique and other officials.
The prime minister and his delegation also visited Roza-e-Rasool (PBUH) in Madina.
He is visiting the kingdom on the invitation of His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince His Royal Highness Mohammad Bin Salman, a statement released by the Foreign Office of Pakistan said earlier.
The Prime Minister will call on King Salman and hold a bilateral meeting to discuss certain state affairs with the Saudi crown prince.
King Salman will also host a state banquet for the the Pakistani Prime Minister at the Royal Court. Accompanying ministers will also meet their counterparts to discuss bilateral cooperation.
The Secretary-General of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen will also call on PM Khan during his visit.
PM Imran Khan will also perform Umra during his two-day visit. He is also expected to visit the United Arab Emirates.
