ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday indicted TV anchor and MNA Aamir Liaquat Hussain in contempt of court case.
The indictment came as a top court bench heard a contempt of court case against Liaquat and rejected the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA’s unconditional apology.
“I seek an unconditional apology and leave myself at the mercy of the court,” Liaquat said during the hearing.
“I have also apologized before,” the TV host added.
However, Justice Ijazul Ahsan remarked, “We had set today as the date for indictment and the time for apologies has passed.”
The court then indicted Hussain under article 204(3) of the Constitution. The MNA pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The SC had earlier said that Hussain had violated court orders on March 6, 2017 and that counted as contempt of court.
