Pakistan poses stiff challenge for Australia, Fearless Fakhar hits 73

HARARE: Pakistan made a strong comeback against Australia in the fifth match of a tri-series at Harare, scoring 95 runs off 11 overs with a loss of just two wickets.

Opener Fakhar Zaman top-scored for Pakistan with 47 before captain Sarfraz Ahmed overcame a spirited Zimbabwean fightback and saw his side home with an unbeaten 38.

Stanlake remained wicket-less in his four overs giving away 30 runs. Of the two wickets until 11 overs, JA Richardson and Maxwell got one scalp each.

Earlier, Australia captain Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Australia have won both their games in the series and look confident under the leadership of Aaron Finch, who smashed his own record for the highest individual T20I score by hitting 172 against Zimbabwe.

The Aussies named an unchanged XI for a third straight match, having defeated Zimbabwe by 100 runs on Tuesday and Pakistan by nine wickets the day before.

Pakistan’s victory over the home side on Wednesday eliminated Zimbabwe from the week-long tournament, leaving the two visiting teams as the qualifiers for the decider.

Despite having qualified for the final, there remains plenty at stake for Australia in their three remaining games.

Pakistan outclassed hosts Zimbabwe in the series opener but succumbed to a defeat by Australia in their second match before regaining form and beating Zimbabwe again yesterday.

Pakistan has made two changes for the match against Australia, their final group game, dropping quick Hasan Ali and spinner Mohammad Nawaz for paceman Usman Khan and teenage Shaheen Afridi.
