While the PML-N was quick to tweet photos and statements of celebration after the Supreme Court verdict on Panamagate, there was relative silence in the PTI camp even an hour after the verdict, with no tweets or statements from major leaders.
Still, through its official account, the PTI spun the news as being “favourable” for its party.
The official account of the PTI in a tweet said, “Decision as it stands right now. Pakistan 2, corruption 0. 3 judgements reserved for PM and kids to show face in court for JIT.”
PML-N leader Khawaja Asif was all smiles outside the apex court, when he boasted to reporters that evidence was lacking to find the prime minister guilty.
“I would like to mention that it has been established today that any evidence given by our opponents in the SC were not enough,” Asif said.
Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal hailed it as a “historic victory”, while Railways Minister Saad Rafique said the verdict is in the PML-N’s favour.
“I would tell Imran Khan to go back to Khyber Pakhtunkhawa and try and work on the things that he promised people,” Rafique said,, mocking PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
