MUMBAI: If you have any doubts about the outstanding acting and transformation of Ranbir Kapoor in the upcoming movie Sanju, then you should really check the reaction of Rishi Kapoor who could not recognize his own son in film’s trailer.
Bollywood veteran actor Rishi Kapoor watched Sanju’s trailer lately and remarked that he thought the actor in the trailer was Sanjay Dutt himself.
While praising the efforts of filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, he said, “The way Rajkumar Hirani has presented Ranbir is the biggest thing, the boy has really done well. I am so proud of him. I swear on (wife) Neetu and Ranbir, I did not think it was Ranbir, I thought it was Sanjay Dutt,”
“You don’t know how emotionally triggered I am right now at the point where Vinod (Chopra) and Raju (Rajkumar Hirani) have shown me this trailer. The first appearance of Ranbir from the jail, I thought it was Sanjay Dutt,” he added.
The movie’s trailer moved Rishi Kapoor utterly that he was not only taken aback but also admitted to being emotionally triggered after filmmakers showed him the trailer.
Sanju is a biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt (essayed by Ranbir) which will feature the high and lows of Sanjay Dutt’s life. The movie is directed and produced by Rajkumar Hirani and is set to release on June 29.
Besides Ranbir Kapoor, the other leading roles in the film will be played by Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Sonam Kapoor and Dia Mirza. The film is slated to release June 29.
Rajkumar Hirani has asserted that film is based on facts, although they have added dramatic elements to suit the big screen and also compressed a few characters into one person to limit the runtime of the film.
“I don’t think we have added fiction but sometimes you do need to dramatize something or make a funny scene funnier. We just hear a situation. We don’t know what dialogues were exchanged between people. But the effort has been to make the whole film on facts. There is dramatization and things like that,” he said.
