Apple’s revenue from the sale of iPhones fell by 15% compared to last year.

This week, Apple presented the worst results of its Christmas season in a decade.

According to the numbers thrown by the results of the last quarter of 2018, revenue that the company receives for the sale of iPhones they fell 15% compared to last year.

This is the first time that both the benefits that Apple gets from its smartphones since it hit the market in January 2007 are reduced

But do you remember when an iPhone cost more than US $ 1,000 after just over 11 years of existence?

The beginning: iPhone 2G

The first generation of iPhone came to market in the United States in June 2007.

The 4GB model cost US $ 499, while the 8GB model cost US $ 599.

Despite being the first generation, it became known as iPhone 2G because Apple decided that it would work only with the 2G data network , and not the fastest 3G.

Now, some consider it a collector’s item (it has been sold on eBay for a price that is much higher than the original).

iPhone 3G

The iPhone 3G was launched in July 2008 in 22 countries and more than one million units were sold in the first week.

This second generation came in two colors – white and black – and was significantly cheaper (US $ 129), with a two-year contract.

The phone came with iOS 2.0 software that was updated on numerous occasions. These updates made it possible to send multimedia messages, as well as the copy and paste function .

A year later, Apple launched the iPhone 3GS – the S referred to its speed ( speed , in English).

The slogan they used to promote it was: “The fastest and most intelligent phone to date”.

The iPhone 3G stopped being manufactured in June 2010.

Iphone 4

Also in June 2010, the fourth generation of iPhone was presented at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco, USA.

The then CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs, said that the iPhone 4 was the thinnest smartphone in the world.

“This changes everything, again,” was the slogan that was used at that time.

This cell phone came with a front camera, a feature that put him ahead of his competitors, as this allowed him to make video conferencing by FaceTime.

The 16GB model cost US $ 650, while the 32GB model, just over US $ 780.

A fifth generation, the iPhone 4S, was launched just a year later.

This one introduced, for the first time, in October 2011, a voice assistant, Siri.

iPhone 5

The iPhone 5 came out in September 2012 and was the last Apple device supervised by Steve Jobs.

Jobs died in October of the previous year.

When Apple started taking pre-orders, it received more than two million in 24 hours.

The new model was thinner and lighter, could connect to 4G and had a screen higher than previous generations.

Its price? US $ 690 for 16GB, US $ 782 for 32GB and US $ 912 for 64GB.

The announcement of the iPhone 5C and 5S in 2013 caused Apple to suspend the production of the original iPhone 5.

Iphone 6

With the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in September 2014, Apple introduced the option of a larger size.

The 6 and 6 Plus models had a screen 138 mm long by 66 mm wide, and 158 mm by 77 mm respectively.

They also had an improved camera , the battery had a longer life, and they offered the Apple Pay service , a digital wallet to make payments in person.

Without the SIM card, the iPhone 6 sold for US $ 703.

Both models were replaced less than a year later by the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.

iPhone 7

In September 2016, Apple introduced its iPhone 7. In the United Kingdom it sold for US $ 716.

For $ 873 you could get an iPhone 7 Plus.

Both models came in a 32GB or 12GB version (gray, black and red).

This generation of iPhone came with no headphone connection , with waterprooftechnology and a new and improved 12 megapixel camera.

iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X

In September 2017, Apple introduced the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X at the Steve Jobs Theater, at Apple’s headquarters in California, USA.

That same, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus went on sale in silver, gray and gold.

Instead of an aluminum case (as had the iPhone 7), the design of these new devices included a glass frame .

The iPhone 8 64GB cost US $ 912 and the 64GB version of the iPhone 8 Plus US $ 1,043.

The iPhone X was launched in November 2017, to mark the tenth anniversary of the iPhone.

This has no front button, has a screen with OLED technology of 147 mm and can be charged wirelessly.

Price? US $ 1,300.

Since then…

Apple has launched three other smartphones: iPhone XR, iPhone XS and XS Max.

The cheapest of the three costs US $ 977 and the most expensive US $ 1,891.

But these prices could change after the announcement of Apple director Tim Cook, who recently announced that the firm would reduce the prices of their phones. When and how much, remains to be seen.
