LAHORE: Pakistan has finally established its first ever transgender school in order to provide education and vocational training to Pakistan’s transgender community. The school is set to commence from April 15th in Lahore.
Offering full 12 years of academic education from primary to matriculation this institute is named “The Gender Guardian”. It has plans to expand to college-level education as well.
The school will also cater technical education classes such as fashion designing, grooming courses (beautician and hair styling), graphic designing, mobile and computer repair and much more.
The founder of “The Gender Guardian” Asif Shahzad said that the school has been built in collaboration with an NGO and they aim to open two more schools in Islamabad and Karachi, likewise.
A number of 40 candidates from the transgender community have already registered and will soon be embark this educational journey.
The school is set to officially announce its launch through an opening ceremony at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore’s Alhamra Hall and a couple of celebrities from the entertainment industry are expected to attend the event.
