Transgender shot dead for not providing a Rs1000 change, video revealed, protest staged

MANSEHRA: On Wednesday Police released a video footage related to the murder of a transgender person during a marriage ceremony in Mansehra district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province.

The law enforcement agency also announced the arrest of the accused Mohammad Riaz who allegedly killed transgender Khurram Shahzad alias Muni in Mansehra’s Kotkay area on Friday over a trivial issue.

Reports say the transgender was killed for not providing the change to a Rs1000 bill.

Kismat Khan, another transgender who was also performing along with victim, revealed that Muni was killed by a guest named Mohammad Riaz.

Kismat Khan maintained that they were invited at the marriage function by a man named Rizwan.

Soon after the incident, members of the transgender community took to the streets in protest and demanded the arrest of the accused.

On Saturday, the community members also protested outside Mansehra Press Club during which a Supreme Court judge, Justice Ejaz Afzal assured them justice.
