US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday (10.05.2018) that his historic meeting with the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, will finally be on June 12 in Singapore.
“The long-awaited meeting between Kim Jong-un and I will take place in Singapore on June 12. We will both try to make it a very special moment for World Peace!” Trump tweeted.

The US president had ruled out on Wednesday that the summit could take place on the border between the two Koreas, where the meeting between Kim and the South Korean president, Moon Jae-in, took place on April 27.
That dramatically increased the chances of the meeting taking place in Singapore, given that at the end of April, the president had said that the venue of the meeting would be either that Asian country or the inter-Korean border.
“It will be a great success”
The announcement comes hours after Trump received three Americans imprisoned in North Korea outside of Washington, who were released on Wednesday during a visit to the secretive country of US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo.
“I think this will be a great success, it has never been so far (with North Korea), there has not been a relationship like this,” Trump said this morning, referring to his next meeting with Kim.
“I really believe that (Kim Jong-un) wants to do something and bring his country to the real world,” the president added.
The White House has interpreted the release of the Americans as a gesture of goodwill from North Korea ahead of the historic summit between Trump and Kim.
