The US president, Donald Trump, said that a trip from Kim to the United States is possible after the summit that both are scheduled to celebrate on June 12 in Singapore, “if this goes well.”
President Donald Trump signaled on Thursday (07.06.2018) to be open to a peace agreement and a normalization of diplomatic relations with North Korea, including a visit by the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, to the United States.
The president said that a trip from Kim to the United States is possible after the summit that both are scheduled to celebrate on June 12 in Singapore, “if it goes well.” In a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, in the White House Rose Garden, he commented that an agreement on the Korean War, legally without resolution, is another possibility.
“We could sign an agreement … that’s probably the easy part,” the Republican said. “The hard part will be left after that.” It is expected that the meeting, canceled by Trump last month before being rescheduled with the same date and place, will finally be held next Tuesday.
In addition, Trump indicated that the letter sent by the North Korean leader was only a letter of greeting, “very warm” and “very friendly.” Last week the president received the North Korean supporter Kim Yong-chol in the White House, who gave him the letter.
A photo shows the North Korean envoy handing the president a large envelope. So far the White House did not give information on the content of the letter.
