KARACHI: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Monday said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) wanted the government to go but there would be no difference with the change of some faces.

He said that Nawaz Sharif got the fruit of Charter of Democracy in 2016. Addressing a programme in Karachi, Shah said that due to PPP, the incumbent parliament had completed its four years.

He added that they (PPP) did not become part of any conspiracy by wearing black coats to derail democracy. Criticising negative politics, the senior PPP leader said that undue importance was being given to negative politics in the country. Khursheed said that they were moving forward with utmost caution and tolerance saying that they (PPP) were of the view the government must complete its term.

He also criticised the media for what he said for playing a negative role. He recalled when Yusuf Gilani was disqualified, the PPP accepted it and brought in a new prime minister. Had they gone against the judiciary, the situation would have been bad, he added.

Shah said that there came many opportunities during the last four years when they could pull down the system but the PPP avoided leg pulling on the basis of the past experiences to cement the democratic system in the country. He added that he would do for the country whatever he could.
