Aung San Suu Kyi has been stripped of the Freedom of Oxford after the city s council decided to withdraw the honour over her response to the Rohingya crisis, reported the BBC.

The de facto leader of Myanmar was granted the honour in 1997 for, what the council termed, her “long struggle for democracy”. However, a motion to Oxford City Council said it was “no longer appropriate” for her to hold it.
