Pakistan starts inoculating Pfizer vaccine doses

Pakistan has started inoculating vaccines manufactured by pharmaceutical giant Pfizer. The vaccine will only be given to people with chronic diseases, including heart, liver and kidney.

The health department has directed those medical records be brought along for the Pfizer vaccine. The Pfizer vaccine will be available only today at the F-9 Vaccination Center in Islamabad.

The government says the second batch of Pfizer will be given to those going abroad and the Pfizer vaccine will be available at designated vaccination centers in 15 cities.

Special training of vaccinators on the use of Pfizer vaccine has been completed. Pakistan has received 1,620 doses of Pfizer vaccine from Covax.

The AstraZeneca vaccine is available for expatriates, and is recognized in Europe, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
