Powerful earthquake hits Pakistan

A powerful earthquake having magnitude of 7.7 has struck major cities of Pakistan, including the northern areas.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department said the magnitude of the earthquake was 8.1  while United States Geological Survey termed it 7.7 magnitude earthquake. The epicentre was in the Hindukush region in Afghanistan.

Tremors have been felt in major cities, including Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Kohat and Malakand. Meanwhile, strong tremors were also felt in Kabul and New Delhi.
