For the automation of processes, including revenue collection, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has developed a Single Sales Tax Portal (SSTP) which will be ready by mid-November. The portal has entered its final stages of testing and would require minimum human intervention, enabling tax-payers to file their integrated monthly returns instead of submitting six different returns. This one-link facility has already been offered to provincial revenue authorities to facilitate the taxpayers.
The FBR notification stated that the Singe Sales Tax Portal will allow simplification in the tax procedures and help save tax-payers time, compliance cost, and effort.
This development is the result of countless negotiations between FBR and provincial revenue authorities. Up till now, tax-payers had to file their monthly Sales Tax returns individually to every tax jurisdiction such as FBR, Punjab Revenue Authority, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority, and Balochistan Revenue Authority, or Sindh Revenue Board. The new portal has helped simplify this cumbersome procedure.
