The government has proposed an inverse gas tariff plan to increase the gas prices by 37% for catering to 43% sales volumes to the lower-end consumers. This part of the proposal falls into the category of cross-subsidy mechanism for gas prices. The Cabinet Committee on Energy, (CCoE) has decided to force shift space and water heat to electricity and not to natural gas.

However, it is important to understand if there are enough electricity-efficient space and water heating tools in the market to offer help during this period at a cost-effective range for acceptable consumers.
