According to sources, Finance Minister Asad Umar has said negotiations with IMF officials over a package for Pakistan are likely to conclude in the next two days.
He had said that Pakistan has been facing a crisis of balance of payments for a long time and we went to the IMF due to some previous wrong decisions.
“The programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would soon be completed for Pakistan”, he stated while talking in a ceremony in Washington.
He also refuted rumours that he has resigned or been fired. I am not going anywhere, he told reporters in Washington. The finance minister is heading a delegation that is in the US to hold a series of meetings with the IMF and World Bank as part of the IMF/World Bank Spring Meetings 2019.
The minister is in Washington for talks with the IMF for a fresh bailout package for Pakistan, what he terms will be the last for the country.
