The government is ready to set a mini-budget today before the Parliament. The standard rate of General Sales Tax (GST) is expected to be 17% on computers, LPG, import of mobile, silver and gold, and many other products.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Sherry Rehman criticized this decision and said that the terms with IMF are being kept secret by the government. She added, “Now, with 17% GST on many items, inflation will increase and put more pressure on those who are fed up with the PTI’s failed policies. The country is in dire need of an economic recovery plan.”
