Corona vaccines arrive in Pakistan on a special Pakistan Air Force plane


The good news for the whole country: in fight against the global pandemic, corona vaccine lands in Pakistan.

An Air Force special plane arrived in Pakistan carrying the Corona vaccine. A special plane arrived in Islamabad from China carrying 500,000 doses of the vaccine. Special Assistant Faisal Sultan received the corona vaccine.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr Faisal Sultan tweeted on the social networking site that the first consignment of Sinopharm vaccine has reached Pakistan. He thanked everyone who worked tirelessly for the vaccine, saying it will be administered first to frontline health workers.

It’s worth mentioning that the National Command and Operations Center (NCCOC) has formulated its strategy in this regard. All measures have been taken to keep the vaccine in NIH Islamabad. Vaccine coordination centers have also been set up at the provincial and district levels.

According to the latest figures from the National Command and Operations Center, 26 people have died from the coronavirus, bringing the death toll to 11,683. The number of confirmed cases of the virus in Pakistan has reached 546,428.

One thousand 615 new cases were reported during the last 24 hours, one lakh 57 thousand 796 in Punjab, 247 thousand 249 in Sindh, 66 thousand 214 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 18 thousand 823 in Balochistan, 4 thousand 909 in Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad. 41,418 cases were reported in Azad Kashmir while 9,019 cases were reported in Azad Kashmir.

So far 79,066,981 people have been tested across the country, and 34,785 new tests have been done in the last 24 hours. As many as 51,252 patients have recovered while the condition of 2,092 patients is critical.

In one day, 26 people died from the coronavirus in Pakistan, bringing the death toll from the virus to 11,683. 4,747 patients died in Punjab, 3,996 in Sindh, 1,906 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 475 in Islamabad, 195 in Balochistan, 102 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 262 in Azad Kashmir.

When will vaccination start in Sindh?

According to a Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Pechoho, corona vaccine drive will start in Sindh from February 3.

In the next phase, first line workers fighting against coronavirus will be vaccinated. The vaccine imported from China is 90% effective against the Sinopharm virus.

The health minister said that vaccines will be available at Korangi Hospital, Urban Heath Center Malir, Ojha Hospital, Qatar Hospital, JPMC Khaliq Dino Hall, Liaquatabad Hospital and Children’s Hospital in Karachi. Touch Jamshoro, MCH Center Shaheed Benazirabad has been made an Adult Vaccine Center. The Health Minister said in his statement that health care workers working in the private sector will also be included in the first phase.

Dr Azra Pechoho said that the facilities of all districts of Karachi have been taken into consideration for vaccination. Data is being uploaded in the National Immunization Monitoring System for vaccine tracing. Data to ensure transparency of vaccination phase is also being compiled, she added.

She clarified that in the second phase, people above 60 years of age will be vaccinated while other citizens will be vaccinated in the last phase. In the last phase, the number of vaccination centers will be increased in all districts of Sindh. The districts in which corona cases are most reported have been selected for the vaccine first.
