Before we get into the details of this news, let’s take a look at the data released by the National Command and Operations Center, according to which 4,487 more positive cases have been reported across the country in the last 24 hours. Thus, the number of certified coronavirus patients in Pakistan has reached 804,939.
According to official data, the number of active coronavirus patients in the country at present is 87,794, while the condition of more than 5,000 patients is critical. In the last 24 hours, 142 more people have died from Covid across the country, bringing the total number of deaths from the epidemic to 17,329.
Due to the growing fears of Covid across the country, it has been decided to call in troops across the country, while restaurants across Pakistan are banned in view of the deteriorating situation in neighboring India.
But our rulers always prove that if you are powerful, you are above all laws. The law in our country is for the poor only; the rich are above and beyond the law. Numerous such incidents come to light when our rulers are seen violating law and justice.
A similar law-breaking incident took place in Peshawar, where none other than Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Federal Minister for Health, Taimur Saleem Jhagra, demonstrated it, and workers violated SOPs in the third wave of Covid-19. An Iftar dinner was organized in his honor. The event was held at a restaurant in his constituency. The workers were invited to Iftar on social media.
A large number of workers attended the event.
Obviously, when a large number of people are present in one place, who cares about the distance. A blithe disregard for all SOPs and protocols was witnessed: no social distancing, no mask-wearing. The workers had a great time taking selfies with the provincial health minister.
Following the viral and severe criticism of the news on social media, a case was registered against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra for violating Covid SOPs. The district administration also registered a case against the owner and manager of a private restaurant.
However, the question remains: what can be expected from the people when our rulers show such lack of seriousness?
