Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani on Tuesday blocked a resolution tabled before the Upper House to pay tribute to Oscar-winning Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy and said that winning an Oscar is not enough reason for moving a resolution in the Parliament.
“Names of those women activists who struggled for the rights of women on the roads of Pakistan and were baton charged should also be incorporated in the text of the resolution,” stated Rabbani.
Rabbani said not just Chinoy, but several other Pakistani women have made sacrifices for the sake of women’s rights in the country.
