India has suffered the worst in the third wave of COVID-19. The country has faced a huge loss of lives in the past month than any country ever has ever since the pandemic has hit the world. The experts say that there is a reported declination in the active coronavirus cases but the daily death tally has crossed the 4,000 mark. It is also said that the data cannot be trusted due to the lack of testing materials in the rural areas of India which have been badly stricken by the virus.

Moreover, experts have mentioned that there is a new variant, B.1.617 detected in India that has resulted in the upsurge of the spread. B.1.617 is considered to be the most dangerous and supremely contagious variant.

World Health Organisation Chief Scientist Soumya Swaminathan said that the testing is still inadequate in many states as the country is still experiencing the highest positivity rate which implies that the testing is not done enough.
