China suspends US flights after COVID-19 surge

China canceled over a dozen scheduled flights from the United State in account of the growing rate of coronavirus. After countless passengers tested positive as they arrived in China, the country ordered the ban. China’s aviation regulator mandated the cancellation of a total of eight US flights for Shanghai under the rules of the pandemic. The flights included four from United Airlines and two from Delta Air Lines and American Airlines.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China also canceled 22 other US-bound flights after being operated by Chinese carriers since December. The Omicron variant which is highly contagious has severely affected 132,646 people in the United States.
