From clinical trial results, Pfizer and BioNTech have concluded that Covid-19 vaccines are safe and well-tolerated for children aged 5 – 11. These jabs will strengthen the immune system of children; however, the vaccine would be administered with a small dosage for children aged 12 and above. The official data will be submitted to the regulatory bodies in the European Union as soon as possible.
According to the dean of Brown University School of Public Health, Ashish Jha, this is good news for the parents who had been awaiting this decision.
This is the first successful trial for children of 12 and above however, the trial for Moderna of 6- 11-year-olds has been currently going on. Among the list of countries that have joined the countries vaccinating young teenagers, England, Wales, and Scotland are at the top.
