Hong Kong suspends travel for two weeks from the Philippines, India, and Pakistan

Hong Kong has decided to ban flight from the Philippines, Pakistan, and India effective from April 20th, 2021 for the next two weeks. The decision was taken after the N501Y mutant COVID-19 strain was spotted in the financial hub of Asia.

The three countries have been added to the list of “extremely high risk” when these three countries carried multiple COVID-19 cases to Hong Kong in the previous 15 days. Hong Kong informed of 30 new COVID-19 cases, 29 were reported on Sunday only making it the highest record for a day in the city. Moreover, Hong Kong’s total tally is 11,600 cases and 209 deaths. The authorities have asked people to get vaccinated as only 9% of the 7.5 million population have received the vaccination.
