South Korea: 6,000 couples in facemasks marry despite coronavirus scare

Thousands of couples — some in facemasks — in South Korea got married in a mass Unification Church wedding on Friday, notwithstanding fears over the spread of the coronavirus epidemic.

Established by Sun Myung Moon, respected as a messiah by his followers, the church distributed face covers to the 30,000 people, but only some put them on.

South Korea has chronicled 24 cases of the novel coronavirus epidemic that arose in neighbouring China, where more than 30,000 cases have been confirmed.
