5.3 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Parts of Gilgit Baltistan and AJK

A 5.3 magnitude earthquake shook the areas surrounding areas of Gilgit Baltistan. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the tremors were felt at 7:31 pm, while its epicenter was 26 north of Astore, Gilgit Baltistan. No injuries have been reported so far; however, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khursheed instructed PMD and other relevant departments to stay alert as aftershocks are expected following the jolts.

Earlier, tremors were felt in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa when the earthquake of 4.2-magnitude jolted the areas. The areas of KP include Battagram, Mansehra, Torghar, and others. The epicenter was 15 northwest of Balakot.

Moreover, areas of Karachi had also experienced tremors of an earthquake in December of 4.1 magnitudes. They were felt in Scheme 33, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Malir Cantt, I.I. Chundrigarh road, North Nazimabad, Federal B Area, Keamari, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, DHA, and others.
