Balochistan’s government on Tuesday placed a complete lockdown across the entire province as stringent prevention measures aimed at combating the novel coronavirus epidemic went into effect.
The authorities have placed Section 144 throughout the province according to a notification issued by the Department of Home and Tribal Affairs. The decision was taken to ensure the health of the people, preserve lives and promote harmony and tranquility in the province.
The directives given to the public by the provincial government included a complete prohibition on people leaving their homes, all kinds of social and religious gatherings, or any private or public event. This ordered the closing of both public and private offices.
Exemptions from orders for essential services, such as personnel working in hospitals, clinics and drug stores, employees in law enforcement agencies, people in need of urgent medical treatment with one attendant, people who go to buy groceries and medicines in the vicinity of their homes, burials of people who have passed away with all the required measures taken against the spread of disease and all other restrictions that the provincial home department finds necessary.
