In a meeting between Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, it was established that Tajikistan is on the same page with Pakistan as Rahmon accepted the proposal of a cohesive approach to forge peace in Afghanistan. The leaders talked about introducing systems to bring stability and promote trade in the war-stricken neighboring country.
FM Qureshi held a special meeting with the Tajik president during his first leg of the four-nation tour to discuss these circumstances and he was warmly welcomed by the hosts. Qureshi stressed the importance of peace and stability in Afghanistan and how necessary it is for Pakistan.
They also talked about economic cooperation and connectivity and highlighted the significance of a coordinated approach and their shared objective of a ‘connected region’. Qureshi also sent warm greetings from Prime Minister Imran to Russia to emphasize the strengthening of relations with Tajikistan.
President Rahmon expressed his interest in meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan at SCO Summit at Dushanbe in September 2021.
