The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has confirmed that the variants for COVDI-19 are now present in Pakistan. The variants of the virus such as alpha (from the UK), delta (from India), and beta (from South Africa) have entered Pakistan. The cases of the variants have been detected in May and June of this year.
The NCOC has stated that the National Institute of Health (NIH) has been examining the existence of coronavirus variants in Pakistan. The procedure was conducted with the help of whole-genome sequencing of COVID-19 patients’ samples. On the other hand, the NCOC has confirmed 25 deaths and 830 active cases reported in 24 hours.
