The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has agreed to approve the budget of $130m (Rs20 billion) by June 30 to procure the COVID-19 vaccine doses. NCOC has allowed the vaccination of aged 18 and above as the registrations were left open. The approximate amount that is needed for the vaccination of 72m people is $1.5bn.
Asad Umar, the Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives explained that the government has planned to provide vaccines to maximum citizens before Eidul Azha to avoid the need for the imposition of lockdown.
According to the report, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet was held to ask for the $130m grant to the National Disaster Fund Management.
