In May, Pakistan’s inflation dropped to 8.2%, from 8.5% in April due to a quicker slump in oil prices for a fourth consecutive month, data provided by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) revealed.

Considerable decrease in prices of petroleum products and enhancement in the supply of crucial food items pulled the general inflation down to a single digit. Simultaneously, decline in rates of few vegetables, pulses and fruits was also witnessed in May.

The Ministry of Food Security has already instituted a unit to review several options to ensure the supply of food items amid the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
